CordenPharma breaks ground on North Augusta peptide expansion
CordenPharma broke ground on its North Augusta, South Carolina expansion on September 22, reporting investment of more than $200 million in the project.
The expansion comprises 68,000 square feet of purpose-built manufacturing space with flexible solid-phase, liquid-phase and hybrid peptide synthesis. CordenPharma says the additional upstream capability will complement its downstream peptide operations in Colorado. It disclosed no annual API output figure.
This is the project originally announced by AmbioPharm in March, before CordenPharma completed its acquisition in August. The groundbreaking is a new construction milestone, not a second 68,000-square-foot addition or evidence of operating output.
The September investment figure also differs from the $118.96 million reported by South Carolina authorities in June and a separate $121.9 million company figure. Their scope and relationship have not been reconciled.
June guidance anticipated operations online by end-2027, without defining the qualification or production milestone involved. The September release did not provide a revised startup date.
