Asymchem reports over 45,000 L of commissioned SPPS volume, targets 69,000 L by year-end

TideMetrix TakeAsymchem reports more than 45,000 L of commissioned SPPS reactor volume and expects approximately 69,000 L by year-end, indicating significant additional peptide manufacturing capability.

Asymchem reported on April 14 that its commissioned manufacturing network had more than 45,000 L of solid-phase peptide synthesis reactor volume. It separately claimed annual peptide production capacity exceeding 22.5 tonnes and said total SPPS volume was expected to reach approximately 69,000 L by the end of 2026.

The disclosure followed installation of new reactors at TJ4 in Tianjin. However, its network-wide wording does not allocate the entire reported capacity exclusively to that site or identify when all the equipment was commissioned.

The annual tonnage is a production-capability claim, not actual output. Asymchem did not specify its underlying molecule mix, purity basis or operating assumptions. Reactor litres and annual tonnes are separate measures; the 69,000 L target represents a future total, not an additional volume.

On the same day, Tianjin’s development authority announced a cooperation memorandum for an approximately RMB2 billion (approximately $300 million) research and manufacturing project in its western nucleic-acid industrial park. The planned project covers peptides, oligonucleotides and pharmaceutical materials. No peptide-specific capacity or startup date was disclosed, and the April announcement did not establish construction commencement.

The authority also cited the 69,000 L year-end target without explicitly linking it to the new project. For protected-amino-acid, resin and reagent suppliers, purchasing implications depend on actual campaigns and utilization; neither disclosure quantifies those requirements.
