Lupin links Dabhasa expansion to protected amino acids and peptide manufacturing
Lupin Manufacturing Solutions announced an expansion of its Dabhasa facility in Gujarat on March 19, identifying peptide building blocks, including protected amino acids, as a focus of the expanded manufacturing platform.
The infrastructure comprises a new block for broader contract research, development and manufacturing activities, supported by dedicated peptide manufacturing capacity across two additional specialized units. The company said the expansion would support advanced development and flexible manufacturing for complex therapeutics.
LMS, a wholly owned Lupin subsidiary, supplies APIs and provides contract development and manufacturing services. Its announcement explicitly connects the Dabhasa investment with peptide-building-block supply, rather than describing only a general pharmaceutical expansion.
However, Lupin did not identify the protected amino acids involved, allocate products to the new units or disclose reactor volumes, annual tonnage or investment value. It also provided no commissioning timetable or product-specific operating status. The announcement therefore identifies the scope and location of an upstream manufacturing expansion, while leaving its scale and availability to customers unspecified.
