CordenPharma completes AmbioPharm acquisition, bringing US and Chinese sites into its network

TideMetrix TakeTideMetrix Take: Corden is assembling a global peptide manufacturing powerhouse. The AmbioPharm acquisition adds large-scale Chinese production, a second US peptide site and further capacity already under construction.

CordenPharma announced completion of its acquisition of AmbioPharm on August 3, following the acquisition agreement announced in May.

AmbioPharm’s North Augusta, South Carolina, and Shanghai facilities will join CordenPharma’s manufacturing network and adopt the CordenPharma South Carolina and CordenPharma Shanghai names. Integration and rebranding are planned over the following months.

The closing announcement emphasizes South Carolina’s purification and lyophilization capabilities, alongside planned further investment in upstream manufacturing. Shanghai contributes upstream peptide synthesis capacity. CordenPharma said the South Carolina operation would complement its Colorado site in supporting fully US-based peptide API supply.

The acquired manufacturing assets should be distinguished from AmbioPharm’s previously announced North Augusta expansion. That March project comprises 68,000 square feet intended for commercial synthesis using solid-phase, liquid-phase and hybrid approaches.

The acquisition announcement does not say that the expansion has been completed. It also does not explicitly reconcile CordenPharma’s planned upstream investment with the March project, so the two disclosures cannot be treated as separate capacity additions.

For customers, CordenPharma is presenting the enlarged network as offering greater geographic and manufacturing flexibility. Those are integration objectives; the closing release does not quantify additional output or announce specific customer transfers between sites.
